What a playlist does to a session
Every track change is a small event: a gap, a level jump, a different key, sometimes an ad. In a forty-minute run that is a dozen moments where your attention leaves what you are doing and checks in on how much is left. None of them is a big deal alone; the accumulation is what makes a session feel long.
A continuous mix removes all of them. That single property does more for a long effort than any particular song choice, and it is why the format exists.
Why an hour specifically
It covers most sessions end to end: an easy run, a trainer ride block, a gym session with warm-up and cool-down, a commute each way. Long enough that you start it once and never touch the phone again, which is the actual goal — one decision, at the start.
How to use it properly
Download it rather than streaming it. Reception fails in exactly the places you train — under trees, in a basement gym, out past the edge of town — and a session interrupted by buffering is worse than one with no music at all.
And play it to the end. Recommendation systems weigh completion far more heavily than likes, so finishing one mix teaches them you want long-form material, and skipping through five teaches them the opposite.
Questions people actually ask
Why is a 1 hour mix better than a playlist for training?
Because nothing happens between tracks. A playlist introduces a gap, a level jump and sometimes an ad every few minutes, and each one is a moment where your attention checks how much is left.
How long should training music be?
Long enough to cover the whole session so you start it once and never touch the phone again. An hour covers most runs, gym sessions and trainer blocks end to end.
Should I download training music or stream it?
Download it. Reception fails in exactly the places people train — under trees, in basement gyms, out past town — and buffering mid-session is worse than silence.
What is in the IronCommit 1-hour mix?
